Dapper Duos Celebs News Hatfields and Mccoys Star Matt Barr Is Married

Hatfields and Mccoys Star Matt Barr Is Married

The Hatfields & McCoys star, 39, married Morgan Stanley CEO Kylie Duff in April during a three-day wedding celebration at the Rosewood Mayakoba in Mexico.

The location of the beach has a special meaning for the couple, who met in recent times.

At that time, Duff was 35 years old, so his family organized a compilation of greeting videos because they could not celebrate in person. In an effort to inject comedy, Duff’s aunt secretly sent a video message from the actor, who is the son of her longtime friend.

Even though he has never met Duff, Barr, who recently appeared in Walker: Independence, was a game and recorded a funny message. The attraction was instantaneous.

Six weeks after, the duo met in person on the island of Nantucket.

“He was there, the guy in the video,” Duff tells PEOPLE. “He came into the living room, it was a beautiful summer Friday, the same day that a holiday was supposed to begin. I remember he walked up to me, and showed the kindest smile, I swear it all happened in slow motion, and in a moment that clearly warranted a big welcome hug, all I could muster was an overly professional handshake.”

after, the couple made their first trip together to Rosewood. Their three-day getaway quickly turned into six and, in November 2021, Matt proposed on the island of Mnemba, off the northeast coast of Zanzibar.

When planning their nuptials, the couple enlisted Barr’s cousin Emily Campbell, founder of luxury event planning company Gobella, to create the perfect destination wedding where they could “introduce the place we love, to the people we love.”

The weekend’s wedding festivities kicked off with welcome drinks and Mayan fire dancers. “It was important to set the tone of energy, warmth, and authenticity,” says the couple. “We wanted the guests to feel transported right away.”

The rehearsal dinner took place under the stars in the Rosewood garden on Cieba. A tequila bar specially requested by the groom was located next to local musicians performing mariachis while Barr’s father and Duff’s older brother gave speeches.

For her walk down the aisle, Duff chose a custom design by Cuccinelli Shaheen, which featured custom gold and bronze beads and a woven constellation card of her sun signs and the date of the wedding. For the after-party, the bride was transformed into another faithful personalized piece from Decarret.

“I wanted something where I could hit the dance floor and walk in the sand,” she says.

Barr sported a tailored linen suit in earth tones from New York-based atelier Michael Andrews.

On their big day, the couple spent the first part of the day sharing a coffee, as they do every day.

“We took the time to go to the beach to see our friends and family before the preparations began,” adds the couple who chose to forgo a traditional bridal party and instead had their younger siblings, as well as their nephews and nieces, participate in the procession.”

After the ceremony, presided over by Barr’s younger brother, the guests were led to the reception where the 11-piece Walton Stout Band played for an elegant cocktail hour before performing for the dance party.

“They put on an awesome show,” Barr says. “It couldn’t have been hotter, more sweaty or more fun than it was.”
